Phonics Videos

There are videos to explain the order in which we teach the sounds in Phonics along with a pronunciation guide and examples of each action for each sound that we teach in class.

We hope that you find these very helpful when teaching your child Phonics and Reading at home.

Phonics Terminology

Phoneme = one sound made by one letter

Digraph = two letters working together to make one sound e.g. "ch," "sh."

Trigraph = three letters working together to make one sound e.g. "igh," "air."

Letters and Sounds As a whole school we follow the Phonics order as set out in the "Letters and Sounds," document. This website sets out the order, with further information on each Phase.

Jolly Phonics rhymes This video shares the sound rhymes, along with the action, we use in Orchard class to teach each letter of the alphabet and the Phase 2 or 3 sound it makes.

Jolly Phonics Digraph Rhymes This video shares the action rhymes we use in Orchard class to teach the Phase 3 digraph sounds.
