School Covid-19 Catch-Up Premium
Covid-19 catch up premium: £1 billion funding split between £650m catch-up premium and £350m National Tutoring Programme
The Department for Education has announced additional funding to support children and young people to catch up. This includes a one-off universal £650 million catch-up premium for the 2020 to 2021 academic year. This additional funding is to ensure schools have the support they need to help all pupils make up for lost teaching time.
The funding will be paid as a grant and will only be available for the 2020/21 academic year.
This funding will be allocated to schools in 3 installments. An initial part payment in autumn 2020, will be based on the latest available data on pupils in mainstream schools and high needs place numbers in school.
A second grant payment will be made in early 2021, based on updated pupil and place data. For mainstream schools, the 4 to 15 pupil headcount from the October 2020 census will be used.
A third grant payment will be paid during the summer term 2021.
Based on 106 children in October 2020 at £80 per child equals £8480
